In 1995's Before Sunrise a very young Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy spent a long, meandering, romantic night together in Vienna. In the 2004 follow-up, Before Sunset, an older, more jaded Hawke and Delpy spent a long, meandering day together in Paris, still crazy and tortured about each other after all these years. Now it looks like the third film might be on the way. (Berlin for a 24-hour rendezvous?)

I'm doing a 40 part video series on the Texas Book Fesitval and this is one of the videos I'm featuring. And, get this, I came home with a giant inflatable brain signed by Chuck Palahniuk.

Chris Nixon of Outdoor Kitchen Supply built this amazing bbq and party rig out of a new dumpster and the workmanship on it was off the charts amazing. I spent nearly two hours marvelling at the design and construction of it. I also published a photo album on my http://facebook.com/springtime page and on http://gplus.to/springnet page.

The foks at Trash and Burned rolled out this architecturally amazing bbq and party rig today at the tailgate area at the Texas – Oklahoma State football game. Asked how Google+ plans to police the network for authentic and inauthentic users, Mr. Prosser said it is taking a few different approaches. If companies notice that a logo or profile is being improperly used, it can report the profile to Google, which will respond with what it calls a "soft takedown." The user will be given a few days to change the name or appeal the finding before Google takes further action, but even if the person is found guilty there won't be other ramifications; it won't shut down Gmail or other services for the user.

Texas should hold a special session and restore the volunteer firefighter funding it stripped away in the last session. Shouldn't it be obvious that we need to reward the courage and hard work these folks have done for us in the recent wildfires? Either Governor Perry or Lt Governor Dewhurst should sign an emergency order or the Legislature needs to reconvene and do this.

This was the scene today at the Bastrop Convention Center where folks came to get an update of the fires, get water and sports drinks, and, more importantly, get comfort, aid and consoling. The fires have been devastating. Nearly 2,000 homes have been destroyed.

I am so, so lucky that the fire stopped just short of my two homes and 15 acres. I will volunteer as much as I can to help others who weren't so fortunate as me.

I went and volunteered today and attended the press conference at the Bastrop Convention Center. I was real lucky, I mean real lucky, that my two homes on 15 acres weren't hit by the Union Chapel fire which is now contained. I have a video and some pix from today that I'll post as soon as I can get them off my SD card. I'll be back tomorrow to try and help out and I'm making some homes I have in Cedar Creek available to those displaced by the fires. I hear the winds may pick up again tomorrow.

I'm getting conflicting reports from the wildfire hotline in Bastrop about the status of our homes in Cedar Creek, one operator says "all clear, go home" and the other says "off limits, no containment". I'll make an excursion to Cedar Creek in 3 hours to see if our homes are still standing or not. It's been a sleepless night at the condo in Austin.

When I left during yesterday's evacuation I had a flat tire on Highway 71. No less than 3 people rushed to where I was on the side of the road offering help and one guy was back in 10 minutes with 3 cans of fix a flat which gave me enough juice to make it to the tire repair place. It really feels like folks are caring for each other in this Texas wildfire crisis.

Forced to evacuate the Spring Lodge in Cedar Creek ( see http://bastroprealty.com for pix) with flame and smoke bearing down about a mile away. Nothing is being used to fight the fire except helicopters. There is a 50/50 change the Lodge will be there in the morning. So tonight will be suspenseful!

Bastrop is on fire, I'm evacuating the Spring Lodge and will be up all night doing this. I have two homes at risk. Hundreds have lost homes already.

Wow, I was lucky enough to hangout with +Mike Elgan +Michael Mozart and Steve Rubel tonight in their "Hang Ten" hangout room and I started a new website about Google plus in Austin and made it one of my first posts. What great company! It was livecast on the "Hangout Party" and embedded all over Google+ compliments of Michael Mozarts Google live stream. Michael is on such a roll with his show about his 325,000 toys and he's rising fast around here.

Tom, the MySpace guy, has found new life on G+ and is really making a contribution. I guess when you don't have to run a big company you have a lot of time to analyze and comment. "You learn a lot when you mess up. I messed up a lot, so these are just a few of the things I learned. By the way, these lessons aren’t just for Google. They also can be applied to any startup, so good luck everyone. I’m hoping to see you all make your mark on this world."

A 14-year study conducted by the American Cancer Society concluded that those who sit for greater than 6 hours per day had a higher mortality rate than those who sat less. "Prolonged time spent sitting, independent of physical activity, has been shown to have important metabolic consequences, and may influence things like triglycerides, high density lipoprotein, cholesterol, fasting plasma glucose, resting blood pressure, and leptin, which are biomarkers of obesity and cardiovascular and other chronic diseases," said Dr. Alpa Patel, the study’s leader.

Some good tips here on using Google+

For example:

Holding down the “Shift” key on your keyboard while dragging people between circles, preserves your selection.

You probably know that to copy people from circle A to circle B, you open circle A ("View circle in tab"), select the people you want to copy, then drag them to circle B. But if you shift-drag your selection from circle A to circle B, the selection remains intact after it's copied into circle B. You can then click "Remove" to remove them from circle A.

End result: you've moved the selected people from circle A to circle B!

Author Jason Hiner thought Google+ was going to be a wham-bam-thank-you-m'am moment like other Google social network misfires but instead he conclude that "Damn, was I wrong. After almost a week, I fully expect this Google+ thing to turn into a long-term relationship. This video is me talking with a couple of other Google+ers about Austin's controversial Formula One track on a Google+ hangout. It was a struggle to make my first video podcast using Google+ Hangout, but I got a lot of ideas how to improve this in the future. I ordered a green screen on amazon and should get it in a few days. I'll use it to generate a more imaginative background. It would be fun to record 10 minutes out of a Trey Ratcliff hangout session, they rock!

It was a disastrous first day in the Tour de France with two huge crashes. Cadel Evans got a big jump on his rivals for the Yellow by escaping the crash.
